Date: March 22, 2020

To: All Parents and Sprouting Star Familes

Effective Monday, March 23, 2020, Sprouting Star Children’s Academy will be closed. We will remain closed at least until April 3, 2020 in accordance with the order from Governor Abbott for public schools and decisions by the Pflugerville ISD.

Over the last few weeks while schools were closing around us, we worked hard to implement all new health control procedures as guidance became available. It was our mission to support you as long as we felt it was safe to do so. As of Saturday evening, there have been 62 confirmed cases of covid-19 in Travis County, and they have moved to phase 5 in their emergency response plan. Phase 5 is the highest phase and indicates sustained community spread. Cases in central Texas continue to rise. As many of you have heard last week, Governor Abbott has already closed all schools through April 3.

In light of the growing threat, and the difficulty obtaining supplies to safely operate, it seems reasonable to suspend operations for a few weeks while it runs its course through the community and to give time for health authorities to assist us with provisions. Sprouting Star will await this and further guidance from the Governor and other state officials to determine when it is safe to reopen.

Important information for Workforce Child Care Services families – Effective March 1, 2020, children may accrue absences without impacting ongoing eligibility for services or provider reimbursements. TWC will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and make a future determination on when this absence policy will conclude. YOUR REFERRAL WILL REMAIN ACTIVE AND ABSENCES DUE TO COVID-19 EMERGENCY DO NOT AFFECT YOUR CARE ELIGIBILITY!

In the meantime, we will be working to determine what instructional support and care can safely be offered and how to deliver it to students. If you need to retrieve your child’s diapers, wipes, creams, etc., we will be available on Monday, March 23, 2020 from 8am to 5pm to bring your items to the front entrance for you.

WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK! As we absorb the guidance from the state and local authorities and evaluate what types of service we can safely offer, your input is important.

We also wish to remind you that breakfast and lunch meals are being distributed by the Pflugerville ISD at 10 different locations throughout the community should you need this service.

We regret the situation and the impact this is having on everyone around the world. We hope that you and your entire family stay safe, and we look forward to reopening the school as soon as possible.

Kind Regards,

 John Russo
